Autcraft: Minecraft for Children with Autism

This is another article about Autcraft, the Minecraft server specially designed for children with autism. I was really surprised to learn about this site from both our homework reading and this article. I had never heard of something like this before, but I think it is such a cool way for children with autism to build relationships with other children who have similar interests. The best way to learn social skills is from experience, so having a safe place where children with autism can be having fun playing Minecraft while also learning social skills is a great opportunity for them. I think that a lot could be done with other forms of technology and games as well that would be beneficial to children with special needs.

Yay! I am so glad to hear that people are reading and connecting with the articles I picked chose for the syllabus. I had not heard of Autocraft before either, but it sounds like the perfect medium. I like this quote from your article: “In Autcraft, everyone is equal. There is no young or old, boy or girl, neurotypical or autistic – none of that matters. Everyone is there to learn, explore and have a great time.”
