Making the most out of movies in the classroom…

This article is a personal opinion and experience from a teacher who at first didn’t agree with showing movies, but then found use with it. The teacher showed a National Geographic movie from Netflix. Students were asked to divide a piece of paper so they could compare and contrast information during the movie. The teacher would periodically stop the video to discuss and make the movie engaging. The teacher was extremely impressed with how well this lesson went. If the movie or show helps with a lesson.. why not use it? Given at the end of the article are ways to keep students engaged and paying attention during the movie (movie sheets, video writing prompts)
