This weekend, I met with a neighbor of mine to discuss babysitting for this summer. She was telling me all about how her daughter’s fine motor skills have improved since she’d starting playing Minecraft. It was really cool to hear a real life example of how technology is helping students both in and out of the classroom.
While I do not think that Minecraft is necessarily the best way to develop fine motor skills (I think kids still need to do real life activities, such as tie their shoes), it is great that it has helped this specific child. This article talks about how one woman used technology in her therapy sessions to work on her students’ motor skills.
