Blogs

After learning about blogs, I took away many ways to incorporate them into my classroom. However, this article brought up one way that I had previously failed to consider. I knew that blogs could be a way to communicate with parents and to let them know what is going on in the classroom. However, this article brought up the idea of students directly contributing to the blog themselves. This would encourage them to read, write, and share their ideas with the class. It would promote participation within the classroom as blogs could bring about a completely new way to participate. If this was an option in the classroom, the entire class would benefit as they will be more likely to participate, engaged, and will be able to consider every students’ ideas. This may be difficult to implement with younger grades however older elementary aged students could definitely grow accustomed to this routine. I am sure there are also ways to incorporate writing in a blog in the younger grades as well.
