Blogging with Younger Students

This article focused on how blogging could be adapted for an elementary school classroom. It gave ideas to how elementary teachers could use blogs, what the students could blog about, and how to monitor safety when young students use the internet. The most important thing I got from this article was how it made me think about my case study student in my special ed practicum. He is very reluctant to write. This article says “Although blogging in schools is still in its infancy, anecdotal evidence suggests students’ interest in, and quantity of, writing increases when their work is published online–and perhaps more importantly–when its’ subject to reader comments.” This really got me thinking of how blogging is a way I could motivate students like my case study, to want to write something. This is a great idea to get students actively engaged.
